ADAPT programme - Women's Safety Service
The Women’s Safety Service is a fundamental part of ADAPT. The Women’s Safety Worker will make contact with the woman once her (ex) partner has been assessed for ADAPT. The support for women is aimed at:
- Undertaking pro-active contact with all partners (ex) of men attending ADAPT
- Increasing her physical safety, emotional and psychological well-being
- Providing her with information about the programme
- Providing her with opportunities to develop insight and understanding about domestic abuse
- Helping her to manage the changes that occur as a result of the programme
- Promoting realistic expectations regarding partners (ex) attendance on the programme
- Offering information, advice and guidance sensitively
- Empowering her to make informed choices
- Providing information on specialist services within the local area
- Continue to provide support for a minimum of six months after her partner (ex) completes ADAPT
